5 Things Thursday: FRBR, Special Collections, Cataloging, Librarians

In honor of my first week of work at my new job as Catalog Librarian, Special Collections at The Seattle Public Library, here are five wonderful things:

  1. Do you understand FRBR? Here is an insightful post on FRBR, conceptual modeling and lots of formerly confusing stuff. Take a few readings to digest this information before the light bulb goes on.
  2. What do archivists do when processing special collections materials? The Iowa State University Special Collections blog takes on that question.
  3. Wow. Comparing the process of weeding library materials to weeding out ineffective librarians. Controversy!
  4. Just what I need right now – cataloging resources from INALJ. All the usual suspects in one handy post.
  5. This music video was shot in my very first library – the Hazleton Area Public Library. Makes libraries and librarians look super cool!
